Panic Disorder Therapist in Houston
Evidence-based panic disorder treatment for lasting relief
"The feeling comes out of nowhere and I am suddenly terrified that I am either going ‘crazy’ or I am about to die. Why does this keep happening to me?"
Your heart races. Sweat breaks out. You can't catch your breath. You are terrified you will lose control. You feel like you might faint or even die.
Maybe you have checked yourself into the ER before because it felt like you were having a heart attack. Physicians told you it was just a panic attack.
“Just” doesn’t begin to describe what you are going through. This is serious; it’s debilitating, forcing you to stop what you’re doing and suffer through it. And worst of all, you’re terrified of it happening again.

This leads you to limit what you do — avoiding anything that might lead to a panic attack, like social situations, crowds, driving, or even simply leaving your home.
When nothing you have tried seems to work, it’s time to bring in a panic disorder specialist. You need an expert who knows what you’re going through and knows exactly how to help you manage these symptoms.
A specialist can help you get back to a life where you no longer fear having a panic attack. You will approach each day with confidence and a sense of calm as you’ll have learned new, evidence based strategies for how to cope.

FAQ's
Questions about panic disorder treatment in Houston?
Is panic disorder treatable?
Yes, panic disorder is highly treatable! With diagnosis and treatment, many people experience significant reduction in symptoms and improved quality of life.
Panic disorder treatment typically involves a combination of therapy, lifestyle changes, and sometimes medication. It's important to note that while panic disorder is treatable, it may require ongoing management. Some people might experience occasional symptoms even after treatment, but they usually have the tools to manage these effectively.
What's the best therapy for panic disorder?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is widely considered the most effective form of psychotherapy for panic disorder. Here's why it's so effective:
- It helps you identify and challenge the catastrophic thoughts that fuel panic attacks.
- It teaches you to recognize that panic symptoms, though they feel scary, are not dangerous.
- It includes exposure therapy, where you gradually face panic-inducing situations in a controlled, supportive environment.
- It provides practical coping strategies to manage symptoms when they occur.
Other effective therapies include:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): This helps you accept anxiety symptoms rather than fighting them, reducing their power over you.
- Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR): This can help you stay grounded in the present moment, rather than catastrophizing about potential future panic attacks.
Our panic disorder therapists at Houston Anxiety use these “gold standard” therapies for treatment. We’ll match you with the therapist who best fits your personality and needs.
What does therapy cost?
The cost of your sessions depends on your specific mental health therapist. Initial diagnostic evaluations with our licensed clinicians range from $215-$330 and follow up sessions range from $160-$255.
Advanced Doctoral Clinicians and Counseling Interns are able to provide services at a much reduced rate ($100-$130). All of our Doctoral Clinicians and Counseling Interns receive weekly supervision by fully licensed psychologists or counselors that are familiar with your goals and treatment plan. Working with a doctoral clinician or counseling intern is essentially like having two therapists for the price of one! We believe that finances should never get in the way of receiving excellent, evidence based care.
Do you take my insurance?
In order to make sure we offer the best, personalized care without restrictions, we are not on any insurance panels.
While we don’t work directly with any insurance panels, we are able to provide our clients with superbills so that you can apply to receive reimbursement directly from your insurance provider. Many of our clients receive up to 50%-80% reimbursement!
If you plan to seek reimbursement, please let us know prior to scheduling your initial appointment so that we can ensure you’re matched with a mental health therapist whose specific license is eligible for insurance reimbursement.
